Nibinamik First Nation
Located in the Summer Beaver Settlement in Northern Ontario, this Oji-Cree First Nation community is home to 28 residents, with a registered population of 440. As a proud member of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation and the Matawa First Nations, the community maintains its strong cultural roots while facing unique challenges due to its remote location.
With no year-round road access, transportation is limited to ice and winter roads, which significantly increases the cost of supplies. The community can only receive essential goods like fuel, building materials, and vehicles during the winter months. Throughout the rest of the year, the Summer Beaver Airport provides the primary connection to the rest of Ontario.
